A Picky Girl's Guide to French Cheeses - Episode 2

This past year was my year of cheese! Each week, I tried 3 new cheese in France. To some, that sounds like a dream, but for a small-town, middle-class girl who was raised on craft singles, breaking into the world of French cheese was intimidating!

Andy was with me each week, filming the experience as a little momento of my gastronomic adventure.

The cheeses featured are made and found in and around Provence and all were found at our towns cheese shop, Lou Canesteou.

These little clips were made just for fun and memories, but we thought some cheese lovers would get a kick out of my sometimes overly dramatic expressions as I explore some new and funky fromages!

I do apologize to all of the adventurous cheese eaters out there who watch these. The first few videos I’m just getting my feet wet in the world of French cheese, so my tastebuds haven’t quite adapted yet. My palate did grow each week with each new cheese selection, so it was fun to look back at my gradual acceptance of these very special cheeses!

This week, we have a special guest from the north, Agnès, who shares her expertise and love of cheese with me during this week’s tasting.

The cheeses tried this week were: Mascaré Feuille, Rovethyme and Comté d’ Été, which turned out to be our favorite.

Since I enjoyed Banon so much, I opted to try another leaf-wrapped cheese, having a positive association with that style. That turned out to be our LEAST favorite this week!
